PHM Starts JSN Project Sail Away Jacket Process

2021-08-22

PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) as the operator in the Mahakam Working Area (WK), with the support of SKK Migas and PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) as the holding company, announced that on March 30, 2021, it had carried out the first stage of the jacket sail away process for the offshore platform for Jumelai, North Sisi, North Nubi (JSN) project. The project for the construction of three offshore platforms has an investment value of USD 105 million (only for the construction of three platforms, excluding drilling costs), and is targeted to support 20% of the Mahakam WK production by 2024.

Located in Bintan Regency, Riau Islands, the first stage of the JML1 platform sail away jacket process has been carried out to travel by sea to the waters of East Kalimantan. Furthermore, the jacket will be installed in the South Mahakam Field which is off the coast. This JML1 jacket weighs 565 tons, with the overall weight for all three jackets reaching 2,000 tons. When combined with the pile and conductor pipe of the three jackets, the total weight of the material in this sail away reaches 5000 tons. Furthermore, in mid-April 2021, jackets for the WPS3 and WPN4 offshore platforms, both of which are located at the Sisi Nubi Field, will be sent to the location. After that, the installation of pipelines will be carried out to the installed facilities along a length of 16 kilometers.

Agus Amperianto, General Manager of PHM, hopes that the oil and gas production from this project will be able to support the production of the Mahakam WK. "At peak production, the contribution from these three platforms is expected to reach 120 MMscfd," he said. Furthermore, Agus said, even though it took place in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, in general the progress of the JSN Project work was still on target.

Luky A. Yusgiantoro, Head of the Project Management and Facility Maintenance Division of SKK Migas welcomed the achievement of the JML1 sail away jacket as one of the main milestones for the realization of the JSN project in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. This activity is an effort by SKK Migas and KKKS to support the achievement of the oil production target of 1 million barrels and 12 billion cubic feet of gas per day by 2030.

Furthermore, SKK Migas encourages that the next milestones such as the sail away jacket for the other two offshore platforms (WPS3 and WPN4) can be achieved according to the planned timeline, as well as milestones related to the installation of topside platforms, hook-ups and the achievement of the Ready for Drilling target (RFD) for all three platforms at the end of 2021.

The JSN project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2021. As of March 23, 2021, this project has generated 1,248,800 safe working hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI).
